Primary Inter-School Sudoku Competition

JCI Labuan had organised a primary inter-school Sudoku Competition on last Saturday (27 Oct 2007) at SRJK Chi Wen. There were 46 students from St Anne, Chi Wen and Chung Hwa participated on this competition. The students were divided into 2 groups, classroom 1 and 2. The competition started with the briefing of the Sudoku rules. This competition was dividend into 3 rounds. All the students need to complete the Sudoku question for each round under a specific time. 1st round is given 20 minutes, 2nd round is 30 minutes and 3rd round is given 40 minutes.

For the 1st round, there were 17 students scored full marks. Then for 1st and 2nd round also scoring full mark were about 10 students. 1st, 2nd and 3rd round scoring full mark only left 3 students, which is the Top 3. Then we were giving them another question which needs to be done in 5 minutes to see whether who is the champion.

This Top 3 student really smart enough as they really scoring 100% in all the 3 rounds. A big thumb up to them. It is quite fun and interesting to organised activities in school. We hope to organised it again on next year. Thanks to all the hard work committee. Well done!

Annual National Convention in Sarikei (18 October 2007 - 20 October 2007)

The ANC (Area National Convention) was held in Sarikei, Sarawak this year. This event was from 17 Oct to 20 Oct 2007. All the 39 chapters from all over Malaysia were coming to Sarikei for this grand event. For JCI Labuan, we got 5 delegates joining this ANC including myself, the Chief Delegates.

Me (JC Teo Seh Ai), JC Yolanda my treasurer this year and my past president 2005 JC Felicia, we went together using Maswings from Labuan to Miri. Then we were using bus from Miri to Sibu which took around 8 hours to reach. We stayed 1 night at Premier Hotel, Sibu. Then the next day went to Sarikei for the ANC. From Sibu to Sarikei took about 1 hour to reach.

The 1st day in ANC, I need to present my report in President Forum. First time saw all the Chief Delegates from Penisula and Sarawak. As for Sabah one, we met before during the ASC in June this year.

2nd day in ANC, we attended the 1st General Assembly (GA) at Civic Centre, Sarikei. After the GA, all the Chief Delegates required to stay for the rehearsal of the Opening Ceremony. Then, in the evening, we had joined the Town Parade. Most of the delegates holding their state flag and chapter’s name and went around the Sarikei town. This was the most fun event for me during this ANC. At night was the Opening Ceremony and Welcoming Dinner night. All the Presidents are wearing the President Chain and went up the stage to be recognized. After this opening, we had our dinner outside the Civic Centre. It was an outdoor dinner. Got variety of foods, such as Malay food, laksa, satay and etc. You can choose anything you want. After that, got few chapters setting their own boot for fund raising. Got variety games, wearing Kimono picture taking and etc.

3rd day, we attended the 2nd GA. Then at night was the Senate Night, the Bollywood Night as well. 3 chapters were joining the Bollywood contest. It was so fun seeing them acting and dancing on the stage. After that are the LOM parties at hotel. There were Sarawak night, Teluk Intan Night and Tawau night. We went to all the 3 parties.

4th day, we attended the last GA. The most interesting GA. During this GA, we vote for the NP candidates for quite few rounds as for this year got 3 NP candidates. Then at night was the Closing Ceremony. All the Chief Delegates once again wearing President Chain to be on stage for recognized. All the incoming National Boards for 2008 were on stage too to be recognized. My IPP, JC Goh Yen Chong was elected as the National Treasurer for next year. All the best to him.
